NERGP: ORGANIZATION & PARTNERS
CULTURAL & INSTITUTIONAL OVERSIGHT
The Northern Enterprise Readiness and Growth Program (NERGP) is delivered in partnership with the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
The ACF supports the initiative as part of its commitment to a revitalized Northern economy built on well-structured, standardized, and growth-oriented businesses capable of generating employment, expanding regional commerce, and creating wider economic ripple effects across communities.
SMEDAN provides the program’s technical backbone, supporting NERGP through training validation, enterprise development expertise, and alignment with national MSME policies, government programs, and formalization pathways—ensuring that participating businesses are positioned to grow within Nigeria’s broader economic development framework.

Delivered by TruNorth in partnership with the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), the Northern Enterprise Readiness & Growth Program (NERGP) is a practical, results-driven initiative designed to help Northern Nigerian businesses transition from informal or semi-formal operations into structured, credible, and opportunity-ready enterprises.
Across Northern Nigeria, millions of businesses operate below their full potential due to limited structure, weak financial systems, and barriers to formal market participation. By standardizing and strengthening a critical mass of these enterprises, NERGP aims to unlock significant economic value. If even 100,000 Northern businesses are structured and growth-ready each year, the resulting expansion in productivity, investment readiness, and market access could generate hundreds of billions of naira in additional regional economic activity, while supporting the creation of 300,000–500,000 new jobs annually through business expansion, supply chains, and service ecosystems.
The program supports participating businesses to:
-
Structure and professionalize their operations for credibility, continuity, and efficiency
-
Manage finances and accounts with discipline, visibility, and transparency
-
Maintain tax compliance and regulatory readiness
-
Access banking services and credit with stronger confidence
-
Qualify for grants, contracts, supply chains, and strategic partnerships
-
Plan for deliberate growth and long-term sustainability
-
Build trust, integrity, and reliability as competitive advantages
NERGP is designed for entrepreneurs and business owners who want to operate responsibly, scale sustainably, and position their enterprises to participate meaningfully in the formal economy—while contributing to a stronger, more prosperous Northern Nigerian business ecosystem.
